My weekly blog update

Finding time to blog has been a bit of a challenge these days, but really I don't have much dog news. Ash will be 9 months old tomarrow and he is weighing in at 30 lbs now. I'm finally a believer that he will meet the cardigan standard for average weight in males. We also went to our first basic obedience class on Monday and I learned that he has figured out how to tune me out. All he wanted to do was play with every single dog there rather than pay attention to his momma. I think it's time to turn things up a few notches and crack the whip. Tomarrow we have ring practice, so it will be interesting to see if he cooperates- especially since our last ring practice was about a month ago. So how long does the male teenage period last for all you male cardi owners? He really is a good, sweet boy but he has developed a mind of his own lately and I'm hoping it's just a phase.

As far as school for me I have my first clinical this week. I begin my rotation at our local psychiatric hospital... deep breath. Should be a learning experience. I miss the summer and it feels like fall already around here. Check out our apple thief in the backyard!

Ash man!

Your backyard visitor is quite handsome too! Wait till the apples start to ferment and he starts staggering like a drunk...

Good luck with psych rotation...

Oh Mark you make me laugh! We are tempted to have some fresh venison for dinner one night, if we do we'll be sure to extend the offer!

Developed a mind of his own? Mikey just seemed to lose his mind!! Our teenage months included Mikey doing lots of stupid stuff and lots of trips to the vet because of said stupid stuff. Got to where when I called the vet they would say 'What has Mikey done now?' Won't last long, so hang in there. A good sense of humor will help your sanity!

I forgot to answer the part about how long the "teenage" years last.

Well, Huxley just turned three. I think that he's almost out of them.

Realistically yes: 2.5 to 3 years for a Cardigan boy to "grow up" between the ears.

wow, we got a long time coming then! Guess I'll be sure not to slack on the obedience part. Little nuthead.

Another year and a half for us? Ughhh I'll need the lobotomy before then...

GoGo was good until he was about 9 months old, then he turned into a jerk.

He's a little over 3 and he's getting to be a good boy again.

I think I had the biggest jerk of all the boys around Hux, Gogo and our Ef's age and he's even starting to be a good boy, as evidenced by my email blunder tonight. ;) He's still real edgy with other dogs and at shows sometimes, but over all, my lovely pre-9 month old boy is coming back...and he turned 3 in May. Hmmm...I did say he's been pretty good over the past three months, didn't I? :)

Guppy - hate to break it to ya, but I think your boy will always be a nut! He's like his mother on crack.

I did tell you he was the puppy who would run in mad circles and bark all by himself at 5 weeks, right?

Kota got grey matter between his ears when he hit 2... it was like looking at a brainless idiot until 2... and having just turned 4 in June, he's got a wise intelligent look (most of the time) now ;-) I look at Chance and see that blank "duh" look on his face and am reminded it's a boy Cardigan thing ;-) This too shall pass (in a few years ;-) )
Enjoy! :)
